Wix handles much of the tracking setup for you through Marketing Integrations. The trade-off is less control than on a self-built site, so it helps to know what Wix tracks automatically and where you need workarounds.
Use Marketing Integrations
In the Wix dashboard, open Marketing & SEO → Marketing Integrations. From there you can connect:
- Google Analytics (GA4)
- Google Ads conversion tracking
- Meta Pixel and Conversions API
- Google Tag Manager
Connect each tool here rather than pasting code into custom code fields where possible. Integrations are maintained by Wix and are more likely to keep working after updates.
Pick one route per platform
If you connect Google Tag Manager, decide whether GA4 and Google Ads run inside GTM or through Wix’s direct integrations. Running both sends every event twice. A common clean setup is:
- GA4 through the Wix integration
- Meta Pixel and CAPI through the Wix integration
- GTM only for extra tags that Wix does not offer
Forms and bookings
Wix sends some built-in events, such as form submissions from Wix Forms and bookings or purchases from Wix apps, to connected tools. Check which events appear in GA4 DebugView and Meta Test Events after submitting a test form.
If a form does not produce a usable event, the most dependable workaround is a thank-you page: set the form to redirect after submission and track views of that page as the lead.
Calls and WhatsApp
Track clicks on phone and WhatsApp links with GTM click triggers (links containing tel: or wa.me). For calls from Google Ads, use call assets with a minimum call duration.
Limits to know
- Less control over exactly when and how events fire
- Custom code may load later than integrations, affecting early-firing tags
- Server-side tracking options are more limited than on fully custom sites
Test
Submit a test lead, then check GA4 DebugView, Google Ads conversion status and Meta Test Events. Repeat after any change to forms or integrations.
